THURSDAY, JANUARY 27 - SVIPLA MEETING ON “EXPECTATIONS AND EVALUATION OF OUTSIDE PATENT COUNSEL”

A panel of in-house counsel will discuss their expectations and factors used to evaluate outside counsel services when assigning legal work to one firm or the other. The panel includes: Sanjay Prasad, Chief Patent Counsel, Oracle, Inc.; Keith Chanroo, Director of Intellectual Property, Xilinx, Inc.; Joseph Twarowski, Senior Patent Counsel, Sun Microsystems, Inc.; and Ed Scott, Senior Patent Counsel, Apple, Inc.

DEADLINE FOR RESERVATION OR CANCELLATION: Noon, Tuesday, January 25. Please make your reservation by the deadline as there are only a few extra spaces allotted at the meeting. The hotel may not be able to serve meals beyond the guaranteed number expected for the meeting.

Attendees will be assessed at the member or non-member rate for the dinner meetings. 1. Opening for SVIPLA Program Chair – We are accepting nominations for next year’s (September, 2005-June, 2006) program chairperson (the entry level position for SVIPLA officership).

2. Inventor of the Year – We are accepting nominations for the Inventor of the Year for our June, 2005 meeting.
